If I asked you to close your eyes, if you trusted me enough to do so, what would you see?

What floats in the darkness behind your eyelids?

There is always more than darkness behind closed eyes; the mind wanders; consciousness gives way to something else; a collaborative screenplay between the outside reality and the inner realities of life. Not so different from my work, the unconscious and the conscious, the automatic and the calculated. It becomes a question of how much is mine and how much was always there, of what I am aware of and of what sleeps underneath. Automatic applications of colour and ink, fractions of stories taken at chance, combined with a critical eye; a necessity to make sense and logic from where there seemingly was none. The resulting picture is that of scattered line on white forms over blacks and hues; narrating a story, not an entire story but a segment, a line. The rules and archetypes of the narrative are confined to the image itself, each picture its own world; much like each mind is its own existence.

A collaboration between the aware and the dormant, producing images engulfed in darkness with few slivers of light offering clues. I leave pieces, lines, pages; each viewer arrives at a different story, a different narrative dictated by different sets of days and nights.
